Last week, a Fasil Tadesse and Evelyn Lusenaka from CropLife Africa Middle East participated in the United Nations Food Systems Summit +4 (UNFSS+4), held from 27–29 July 2025 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (co-hosted by Ethiopia and Italy).
Four years after the 2021 UN Food Systems Summit, this gathering provided a vital platform to reflect on progress, strengthen collaboration, and mobilize investment to accelerate the transformation toward more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient food systems.
It was an honor for CropLife Africa Middle East to host a dinner for the Global Flagship Initiative for Food Systems and its stakeholders — an evening that fostered open dialogue, partnership building, and shared commitment to agricultural innovation and responsible pesticide use.
The event also created a valuable opportunity for engagement with the Cameroon UN national coordination and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) under the Global Flagship Initiative for Food Systems, opening doors for deeper collaboration on regional/national food security priorities, coordinated action, and multi-stakeholder solutions.
As CLAME, we are working closely with farmers, policymakers, and value chain actors to advance science-based regulation, stewardship best practices, and expand access to safe, innovative crop protection solutions — all essential for securing food production while safeguarding human health and the environment.
We welcome this global moment of stocktaking and shared learning and remain committed to working with all partners to build food systems that are productive, sustainable, and resilient.
