This document outlines a comprehensive roadmap for implementing pilot programs for empty pesticide container management in the African Middle East region.
The pilot programs aim to address the critical issue of pesticide container disposal to address the environmental and health risks, while promoting responsible stewardship of agrochemicals.

The empty pesticide container management pilot program will be designed to test and refine best practices for collecting, storing, and disposing of empty pesticide containers, leading to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly approach to pesticide management.

According to the World Health Organization, the classification of pesticides by hazard must be based on their formulation for use and not based on the intrinsic danger of their active ingredient.

There are numerous international and national instruments that guarantee the rational management and the registration and legal use of pesticides, such as the FAO International Code of Conduct on Pesticide Management, the WHO Recommended Classification of Pesticides by Hazard and the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM).

These instruments allow the use of pesticides to be one of the most monitored and controlled activities. It also allows products used in food production to confer the benefits of crop protection with the highest health and environmental safety conditions.
