End of May, CropLife Africa Middle East’s Board convened in Nairobi, Kenya 🇰🇪, for a productive meeting focused on advancing our priorities across the region.
The meeting also marked an important leadership transition. After serving two successful terms as President of CropLife Africa Middle East, Jerome Barbaron passed the baton to Debra Mallowah.
Debra is Head of Africa for Bayer | Crop Science, a global leader in Crop Science, and brings over two decades of senior executive leadership across agribusiness, FMCG, telecoms and healthcare – with regional leadership roles across multiple Africa markets giving her deep Pan-African insights. An active CropLife AME board member, Debra was also Chair of the B20 South Africa Sustainable Food Systems & Agriculture Task Force, where she championed climate-resilient agriculture and inclusive food systems on the global stage.
As Board President, she will lead CropLife AME’s work championing innovative agricultural technologies and solutions to build a resilient, sustainable, and competitive agricultural sector across Africa and the Middle East. “Agriculture is the backbone of Africa’s economies, and the innovative technologies our industry brings are essential to building resilient, productive, and sustainable farmer sectors across the region. I am honored to take on this role and help drive that agenda with CropLife AME.” Said Debra Mallowah.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Jerome for his outstanding leadership, strategic vision, and unwavering commitment to strengthening CropLife AME and advancing sustainable agriculture across Africa and the Middle East. His guidance, dedication, and collaborative approach have helped shape the organization’s growth and impact, leaving a strong foundation for the future.
We also wish to recognize and thank all our Board members for their continued commitment, strategic insight and visionary leadership. Their collective expertise and guidance are instrumental in helping CropLife AME deliver on its mission and navigate opportunities and challenges across our diverse region.
We warmly welcome Debra as our new President and look forward to working closely with her as we continue to champion innovation, sustainability, and food security across Africa and the Middle East.
